Fire Sprinklers & Super Bowl Cookies

I'm exhausted today. I feel like I could sleep under my desk right now. I'm putting together a little mini presentation of emergency safety procedures and such for my manager and her manager. Did you know that fire sprinklers are not triggered by smoke, but by the nearest proximity to the heat source (the fire)? Interesting. Also, sprinklers will expell up to 25 gallons of water per minute. Woah.

Just a little tidbit of info.

Super Bowl party this weekend, and Trav and I are hosting. :) It should be fun. I'll make some cookies...

Happy Birthday Mum

Today my mom would be 55. It's been ten years since I sang her happy birthday. She got all new dishes ten years ago, and she was so excited to have matching plates, bowls and platters. My dad spent a lot of money on her present, simply because he knew how happy she would be. Every year since then, I would call my grandparents and tell them "thank you for having my mother." This is the first year I cannot do that....and I feel alone.

I love you mum, and I miss you so much.

Owwiee

Yet another foot injury has reduced me to a sore, miserable, crutch-dependent mess. I can't run, and it's driving me insane. This is the 4th foot related injury I've had in the past 6 years, and I'm done with it. It makes me want to just throw my hands up in the air and say "screw it."

I hate to have other people dote on me and help me with things like holding my coffee and holding doors. I'm just not that type of person. I really do appreciate everyone that is being helpful, but I'm just not for that type of attention. *sigh*

The Dr. appointment yesterday is probably going to cost quite a bit, especially with the x-rays and stuff. The Dr. himself was a runner, and knew what I was going through, and he was very informative and helpful. I have this thing against people touching my feet (I don't even like Travis to touch my feet), but he was very sensitive and didn't tickle me. Thank goodness. But anyway, my injury has something to do with my medial sesamoid bone (or bones because my sesamoid is in two pieces), one of the two pea-sized bones under my first metatarsal (big toe) bone, either an inflammation or a stress fracture. Either way, he said I need to keep all weight off of it for a few weeks (my next appointment is in three weeks).

Crappity crap. Oh well. I really can't do much about it. Unfortunately.

Well hello, 2009!

What a crazy amount of time since my last post.  EEK!  Christmas was excellent and Trav and I got to visit with both families that day...and it was a white Christmas for once!  But, all that snow was annoying and we missed work two days in a row because our car could not get up the hill.  Oh well, I snowboarded down our hill!  I used my new board and boots/bindings that I got for my birthday in 2007, and it was awesome!
Also, on a more serious note, I read the letters from the recipients of my Mom's kidney and corneas.  I knew about the cornea guy, but I couldn't bring myself to read his letter because he sent it only a month after Mom passed.  I honestly didn't know about the woman who received my Mom's kidney...and apparently it was a complete lifesaver to her.  I cried.  This letter came to my Dad in 2001, is this woman still alive?  Is my Mom's kidney still working and out there somewhere?  It's really strange, but pretty damn amazing that my Mom could save someone even through death.  She's truly my AngelFish, and I miss her terribly, but it's really great to know that she helped someone...and she would have always wanted it that way regardless.  It was always in her nature.
Work is going well, but it's a little slower than normal.  A Small Victory is keeping me busy and I'm really stoked for this year in ASV land.  The benefit is May 2nd so mark your calendars!!  I'm going to be telling everyone I know that this is a wonderful opportunity to help out. :)

Anywho, off to go read my crazy mystery novel in bed. ;)
